What to expect from a mobile windshield replacement in Arvada
How a mobile replacement works, how long it takes, what the technician needs from you, and when you can drive.
Most of the windshield replacements we do in Arvada happen in a driveway or a parking lot. Drivers who have never had mobile service often ask what it involves. Here is the sequence.
Before the appointment
You give us the year, make, model, and trim, and tell us about any features: rain sensor, heads-up display, heated wiper area, lane-assist camera. The right glass is sourced for your vehicle and loaded on the truck. Pick a spot with a few feet of clearance around the car. Garages are fine if there is room to open the doors fully.
During the job
- Wipers, cowl, and mirror hardware are removed and set aside.
- The old windshield is cut out of its urethane bed and lifted away.
- The pinch weld is cleaned and primed. This step is what keeps the new glass sealed and bonded.
- Fresh urethane goes down and the new windshield is set and aligned.
- Hardware goes back on. On vehicles with a camera, calibration follows.
Timing
The replacement itself runs about 60 to 90 minutes. The urethane then needs a safe drive-away time, typically 30 to 60 minutes depending on temperature and humidity. In an Arvada winter it can run longer. The technician tells you the exact time before leaving.
Afterward
Leave the retention tape on for a day, avoid the car wash for 48 hours, and crack a window slightly the first day so cabin pressure does not push on the fresh seal when you close the doors. That is all it takes.
